Marketing - Email Template Builder

Modified on Wed, 4 Feb at 9:06 AM

This knowledge base article walks you through creating reusable email templates in TheraSaaS, most commonly used for newsletters. Following these steps helps ensure your emails look professional, are mobile-friendly, and can be reused efficiently for future campaigns.

Before You Start

Make sure you have the following ready:

  • Your brand logo (PNG or JPG, ideally horizontal)

  • Basic brand assets (brand color, font preference – optional)

  • Newsletter content draft (headline, body text, CTA, image if any)

1. Navigate to the Email Template Builder

  1. Log in to your TheraSaaS account

  2. Go to Marketing → Emails

  3. Click Templates

  4. Click + New

  5. Choose Email Builder (not Plain Text)

2. Start From a Blank Template

  1. Select Blank Template

  2. Name your template clearly (example: Simple Newsletter – Base Template)

  3. Click Create

Best practice: Create one “master” template and duplicate it for future newsletters instead of rebuilding from scratch.

3. Understand the Email Builder Structure

The Email Builder is made up of three core components:

  • Sections – Full-width containers used for layout blocks

  • Columns – Placed inside sections (1–3 columns supported; 1 column recommended)

  • Elements – Content blocks such as Text, Image, Button, Divider, and Spacer

Email design tip: Simple layouts perform best. Stick to a single-column structure whenever possible.

4. Build the Basic Newsletter Layout

Below is the recommended section order for a standard newsletter.

Section 1: Logo Header

  1. Drag a Section onto the canvas

  2. Choose 1 Column

  3. Drag an Image element into the column

  4. Upload your logo

  5. Adjust the following settings:

    • Alignment: Center

    • Width: 120–200px

    • Padding: 20px (top and bottom)

Optional: Set the section background color to white or a light brand color.

Section 2: Header / Title

  1. Add a new Section (1 column)

  2. Drag a Text element

  3. Enter your newsletter headline

Recommended styling:

  • Font size: 22–28px

  • Font weight: Bold

  • Alignment: Center

  • Padding: 10–20px

Example:

This Week’s Updates

Section 3: Main Content Body

  1. Add a new Section (1 column)

  2. Drag a Text element

  3. Paste your main newsletter content

Best practices:

  • Font size: 14–16px

  • Line height: 1.4–1.6

  • Use short paragraphs

  • Avoid large blocks of text

Optional: Use bullet points to improve readability.

Section 4: Optional Image (Content Visual)

  1. Add a new Section

  2. Drag an Image element

  3. Upload a relevant image

Tips:

  • Keep image width under 600px

  • Add padding (10–20px)

  • Ensure the email still makes sense if images don’t load

Section 5: Call-to-Action (CTA)

  1. Add a new Section

  2. Drag a Button element

  3. Configure the button:

    • Button text (e.g., “Read More”, “Book a Call”)

    • Button link (URL)

    • Background color (brand color)

Recommended settings:

  • Button size: Medium

  • Alignment: Center

  • Padding: 20–30px

Section 6: Footer

  1. Add a final Section

  2. Drag a Text element

  3. Add footer content

Your footer should include:

  • Company name

  • Address (or city/country)

  • Unsubscribe link (required for compliance)

Example:

You’re receiving this email because you opted in on our website.

{{unsubscribe_link}}

Style recommendations:

  • Font size: 12px

  • Text color: Gray

  • Alignment: Center

5. Mobile Optimization Check

  1. Click Mobile View in the editor

  2. Review:

    • Text readability

    • Button spacing

    • Image scaling

Fix issues by:

  • Reducing padding

  • Adjusting font sizes

  • Keeping a 1-column layout

6. Save & Reuse the Template

  1. Click Save

  2. Exit the editor

  3. Duplicate this template for future newsletters

Tip: Never rebuild from scratch—duplicate and edit your master template.

7. Importing Existing Content

A. Import Saved Snippets

If you already have reusable snippets (footers, disclaimers, CTAs):

  1. Go to Marketing → Emails → Templates

  2. Open the email template you’re editing

  3. Add a Text or Custom HTML element

  4. Paste the saved snippet content

Tips:

  • Keep commonly used snippets saved in a notes document

  • Use Text elements for simple content

  • Use Custom HTML only if styling must remain exact

  • Always re-check spacing and mobile view after pasting

B. Import Templates From Other Platforms (Mailchimp, etc.)

TheraSaaS does not support one-click imports from other email platforms, but templates can be migrated manually.

Option 1: Copy & Paste (Recommended)

  1. Open the original email template

  2. Copy only the text content (avoid layout blocks)

  3. Rebuild the layout in TheraSaaS using:

    • Sections

    • Columns

    • Text, Image, and Button elements

  4. Paste content into TheraSaaS text elements

Best practice: Rebuild the structure instead of forcing old layouts.

Option 2: Custom HTML (Advanced)

  1. Export or access the HTML version of the original email

  2. Drag a Custom HTML element into the template

  3. Paste the HTML code

Notes:

  • Styles may not fully render correctly

  • Mobile responsiveness is not guaranteed

  • Always test before sending

C. General Migration Tips

  • Simplify designs when switching platforms

  • Avoid complex tables and nested columns

  • Send test emails to yourself

  • Check results on mobile devices

  • Expect minor styling adjustments

8. Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Overusing multiple columns

  • Large, uncompressed images

  • Too many font styles

  • Missing unsubscribe link

  • Sending without checking mobile view

9. Final Checklist Before Sending

  • ☐ Logo is visible and properly sized

  • ☐ Clear headline is present

  • ☐ Body text is easy to read

  • ☐ One clear CTA

  • ☐ Footer includes unsubscribe link

  • ☐ Mobile view reviewed
