You can monitor the performance of your Google Ads campaigns through the Reporting section in Google Ads Reports.
However, before you can start tracking your campaign's performance, there are a few essential steps that need to be completed.
Step 1 - Linking Google Ads Account to TheraSaas Account
To begin, link your Google Ads account to your TheraSaas account. The Google account used for this connection should have the highest level of permissions, either as an Administrator or with Google Ads Manager Account (MCC) access.
Step 2 - Choose the Correct Google Ad Account in Integrations
Navigate to the Integrations section in TheraSaas and select the appropriate Google Ads account.
Ensure that the connected Google account has full administrative permissions or Google Ads Manager (MCC) access.
Step 3 - Select the MCC Account ID and Client Account ID in Google Ads Manager AccountThe MCC (My Client Centre) account, also known as the Google Ads Manager Account, is used to manage multiple client Google Ad accounts.
Locate the MCC ID at the top-right corner of your Google Ads dashboard.
The Client Account ID can be found by clicking on the help section.
MCC ID is located in the top right corner.
Client Account id is present on clicking the help section.
Step 4 - Add the UTM Tracking Template to the Google Ads Account
The UTM tracking template can be added at different levels:
Account Settings
Campaign Settings
Ad Group Level
It is recommended to add the UTM template at the Account level settings.
UTM Tracking Template:
Copy the value below
{lpurl}?utm_source=adwords&utm_medium={adname}&utm_campaign={campaignname}&utm_content={adgroupname}&utm_keyword={keyword}&utm_matchtype={matchtype}&campaign_id={campaignid}&ad_group_id={adgroupid}&ad_id={creative}
Steps to Add the Tracking Template:
Go to your Google Ads Account.
Navigate to Account Settings.
Locate the Tracking section.
4. Paste the copied UTM tracking template into the "Tracking template" field.
Important Notes:
After adding the template, run a test to confirm that the majority of campaigns show a valid landing page.
If errors appear in active campaigns, correct them immediately.
The previously used utm_source=google has been deprecated due to ad blockers stripping UTM parameters.
Step 5: Adding a Script for Precautionary Measures
To ensure attribution data is captured correctly, set up a Google Ads Precautionary Tracking Script. This script tracks all clicks on a particular link and sends them to Google Analytics.
Setup Instructions:
Implement the script in your Google Ads account.
Modify the URL within the script to match the tracking page used on your website.
Key Considerations:
Campaign names, Ads, and Ad Sets must be unique.
Names of campaigns, Ads, and Ad Sets should not be changed during their lifetime. If a name change is needed, create a new campaign/ad set/ad instead.
If you change campaign/ad/ad set names without creating a new one, the CRM will continue to reference the original name, which can distort reporting data.
Use the Objectives dropdown (found in the top-left corner) to define the campaign’s objective.
Following these steps ensures smooth Google Ads integration with TheraSaas while maintaining accurate tracking and reporting.
